step #1:

what are you passionate about?

Thinker's Agenda is about taking initiative of your time and resources to drive our world forward. By focusing on topics that you are passionate about, you will be more invested in finding a solution.

in the broad scope of problems, here are a handful that may inspire you:

Domestic Injustice

problems that present themselves in a variety of communities; "backyard problems"
  • health/medical care
  • homelessness
  • drugs/alcohol
  • nutrition/obesity
  • domestic violence
  • education
  • racial equality
  • gun laws
  • gender equality
  • police brutality
  • technology/cyber protection
  • LGTB rights

Enviroment

problems that involve our environment

  • trash cleanup
  • global warming
  • renewable energy
  • fossil fuels
  • overfishing/overhunting
  • oceanic protection
  • forest protection

Global Injustice

problems that are relevant to specific regions of the world
  • terrorism
  • child soldiering
  • hunger/clean water
  • natural disaster recovery
  • health emergencies
  • immigration
  • refugee crisis
  • war

step #2:

what kind of Thinker are you?

Everyone is a Thinker. Different types of Thinkers' minds work in different ways. Cooperative teams work best when composed of people with different sets of skills and abilities while sharing similar values and passions.

Every team should be made up of Thinkers that balance each other out in the spectrum of these two extremes:

Pioneer

  • creative

  • explores all possibilities

  • thinks outside the box

  • open to all ideas

  • dreams big

Straight-Edge

  • realistic

  • logical

  • "type A"

  • what will work?

  • strictly follows

step #3:

find a solution

After finding an issue that you are willing to invest your time and energy in, it's time to start searching for a solution

Build a Team

Find a group of people that compliment your style of thinking. By creating a diverse group of Thinkers, you can ensure a variety of input and ideas. â€‹

Research Your Issue

Some things to consider when researching your problem are the types of people who are being affected/who would benefit from your solution, what is the main cause of your problem, and what, if anything, is being done/has been done to improve it.

At this point, it's important to keep an open mind and try to avoid jumping to solutions because that may blind you from alternative possibilities.

Develop a Solution

Solutions come in many forms: an organization, fundraising efforts, an invention, legislation, a research project, a school club, etc. It's important to be creative

Through brainstorming and refinement, develop a solution that is well considered and feasible. Some things to consider:

  • Time and deadlines:

    • is there a "visual" end? if not, how much time can you put into it?

    • how pressing is the matter?

    • come up with a realistic, but ambitious, timeframe that will motivate you

  • Money and Financing:

    • material costs?

    • are you building something? renting out space? hiring people?

    • do you need capital? looking for investors?

  • Resources:

    • human resources

    • who should you talk to? who do you need to know? who can help you?

    • physical resources

    • easily obtainable materials? software?

    • do you need particular space? what kind? how can you get it?

Share

By sharing your idea with others and receiving feedback, you can find ways to improve your plan while gaining connections and alternative perspectives.

Thinker's Agenda meetings create an environment that encourages groups to bounce ideas off of each other and give each other feedback. It's also a way for people to learn about different issues and become inspired to find their own passions.
